Common Areas in New Buildings: Safety from the Start with Modern Sanitary Technology

In the food processing industry, hygiene is a top priority—especially in facilities that handle sensitive products on a daily basis. A recently completed new construction project demonstrates how modern break rooms can make a decisive contribution to product safety starting right from the planning phase. The PHT Group supported the project with a customized hygiene concept that not only meets legal requirements but also creates efficient processes and sustainable solutions.

Careful planning for safe and efficient operations

What made this project unique was the consistent integration of common areas into the overall building design. From the very beginning, we worked closely with the client to analyze individual requirements and operational processes and translate them into a cohesive overall concept.

A central component was the hygienic separation of black and white areas—that is, of unclean and clean zones. This was achieved through a clearly structured routing system and intelligently positioned hygiene checkpoints. The system was supplemented by automatic cleaning and disinfection stations that ensure safe hand hygiene and shoe sole cleaning—reliably, contactlessly, and time-efficiently.

The break rooms were also optimized for hygiene and ergonomics: durable, easy-to-clean materials, functional furniture, and clear color-coded systems ensure easy navigation and simple adherence to hygiene rules in daily work.

Special attention was paid to the use of hygienic design even during the construction phase: smooth surfaces, joints with minimal seams, and durable materials help ensure that the new spaces are not only easy to clean but also consistently meet the required hygiene standards. This made it possible to avoid potential retrofits down the line from the very beginning.
