Produce pet food hygienically
The production of pet food is subject to the same legal and health conditions as the production of food. Maximum hygiene and the introduction of an HACCP concept are required by law and the authorities. An important component: hygiene systems.
Hygiene systems for animal feed manufacturers: the most important components

Automatic cleaning systems
Automated cleaning systems and stations, such as low-pressure foam cleaning, clean and disinfect production systems without having to dismantle them. They are particularly effective at removing residues and microorganisms from standard applications such as conveyor belts, filling systems, cutting belts and many other systems in feed production. You can install the automatic system individually for your systems in your plant and programme it according to your requirements.
Manual cleaning and disinfection
Regular manual cleaning and disinfection of surfaces, equipment and premises by your staff is nevertheless essential. Floors, floor drains, installations and other areas usually have to be cleaned manually using scrubbers, brooms, squeegees, etc. As the cleaning equipment is in direct contact with bacteria sources, hygienic design and storage are crucial. To ensure that the equipment is only used for its intended purpose, PHT recommends colour coding in operation, where each area is assigned a specific colour of cleaning equipment.
Hygiene stations
Hygiene stations provide your employees with the defined hygiene steps for washing and sanitising their hands and/or soles before they enter the production area. This means that your staff are guided through a logical process to guarantee the washing process. An access barrier denies entry to the production area through a turnstile until cleaning has been carried out properly.
Material locks
Crates and containers as well as loading trolleys and other means of transport have a high throughput. And they usually come into direct contact with the product. Fast and hygienic cleaning of the containers is therefore particularly important. The cleaning systems automate and accelerate the cleaning of various containers, from e-crates to charging trolleys.
Drainage systems
Good drainage technology is an important hygiene factor in pet food production. This is because stagnant water is a potential source of bacteria and therefore a risk of contamination. Depending on requirements, a drainage system consists of floor drains and drainage channels that are installed on cleaning systems or in areas where foam cleaning takes place.
A holistic approach to hygiene systems
Hygiene is always an interplay of many components and factors. The decisive factor is and remains people. However, well-designed hygiene systems make it easier to maintain high hygiene standards in feed production. These systems work hand in hand to create a clean and safe production environment and thus ensure the health of the animals that consume the products.
