Changing rooms are also mandatory under the current reform of the Workplace Ordinance (2024/2025) (ArbStättV). This applies if the wearing of work clothing is required in a company – such as in the food industry. The furniture, such as changing lockers and checkrooms, must meet the highest hygiene requirements.
What are the current requirements for changing room lockers?
Hygienic separation: Changing room lockers with clean/unclean separation ensure a clear distinction between street and work clothing. Separate compartments for shoes, helmets and other personal items minimize the risk of soiling.
The checkrooms must enable the hygienic storage or temporary storage of work clothing. They are therefore equipped with storage facilities for headwear and an area for smocks, work pants or overalls. Special cupboard systems for the provision of fresh workwear in the white area of the changing room as well as a regulated dirty laundry disposal system and clean shoe storage complete the concept.
Hygienic design: Stainless steel remains the first choice. The PHT Group’s designs are particularly hygienic: lockers are made of stainless steel material no. 1.4301 with a 240 grit matt finish. A sloping roof prevents water build-up and makes cleaning easier.
